Man, we thought it was cold in the Grand Canyon but we didn’t know what cold was until we reached Utah highlands, where Zion National Park is located. It was -10 degrees Celsius during the day and -17 overnight where we camped. We woke up to ice on the inside and the outside of the windows of our campervan and our bottled water frozen. We made it through the night wearing nearly every item of clothing we had and five blankets. The scenery was amazing, bright orange canyons dusted with fluffy white snow. We hiked in cold icy conditions to Emerald pools where Sharni stacked it butt down on the icy path. We both had several more near misses sliding on our feet.
