Bush passionfruit

Pulling over to the side of the road to take a leak, we got lucky enough to spot some bush passionfruit. Didn’t bring out the book to ensure a positive ID, but I remembered it from a bush tucker man episode and the net around the fruit is quite unmistakable. It is quite prolific up here. It’s a a vine that grows over the ground and over other trees. We only ate a little since we didn’t research to check up about it. Tastes like normal passionfruit, slightly blander. Later we did our research and found the green fruit are not ripe and are poisonous! Luckily the small amount we consumed had no affect. I’ll be on the lookout for more bush passionfruit so that I can sample it when it’s ripe.
