Yesterday we went on a guided tour through the XXXX Beer Factory in Brisbane. This is a historic site over a hundred years old where Castlemaine first established a permanent brewing factory. It’s still used to make many beers today. The tour took use through the manufacturing process and finished with sampling some of the beers produced there and a bbq lunch at the XXXX Ale House. For $38 you get the tour, 4 schooners of beer and lunch, which we thought was reasonable after the $60 fee to go on the Qantas jet in Longreach. Did you know XXXX Gold is the most popular beer in Australia? And it’s midstrength. Fortunately this conundrum is no longer a mystery.
After beer we went to the Gallery of Modern Art at Southbank in Brisbane. Here we interpreted some art. Some of the pieces influenced us so much that afterwards we had to stop off at some pubs for more beer to quell our emotions.
