We headed to Cairns excited about the prospect of a hot shower and dry clothes after enduring non stop rain whilst on Mt Bartle Frere. Cairns is a nice city with lot’s to offer for tourists. The city has heaps of pubs, shops, restaurants, a public lagoon in the CBD and many tour operators are based in Cairns. We walked around the city, had a beer at a pub, did some shopping and went to the botanic gardens to check out some exotic tropical plants. Also we checked out the Cairns Festival which was on at the time and listened to the band playing. We will return to Cairns to do some tours of the Great Barrier Reef and maybe some fishing.
